Comprehensive genetic testing, counseling and follow up services

Get screened for a variety of genetic factors at any point in your routine health or pregnancy care to gain a deeper understanding of your risks and to better inform your personalized health plans. If a screening test comes back positive, we will refer you to a genetic counselor and / or our Maternal-Fetal Medicine partner. Once a full evaluation has been made, further testing such as CVS or amniocentesis will be done to give definite results and treatment plans.

This non-invasive prenatal screening checks for chromosomal conditions like Down syndrome by analyzing fetal DNA in the mother’s blood. It’s safe, low-risk, and often done as early as 10 weeks. While not diagnostic, it offers highly accurate insights and can guide whether further testing is needed. This helps families prepare early with reassurance or clarity.
Aneuploidy refers to an abnormal number of chromosomes, such as in trisomy 21 (Down syndrome) or trisomy 18. Screening and diagnostic tests can identify these conditions early in pregnancy. Counseling helps interpret results and explore options, offering emotional support alongside medical information for families navigating tough decisions.

Neural tube defects, like spina bifida, affect the baby’s brain or spine. Screening may include blood work and detailed ultrasounds during the second trimester. If detected, follow-up care includes imaging, counseling, and delivery planning to ensure the baby receives specialized support as early as possible.

These are structural differences in the baby’s organs or limbs, sometimes found during mid-pregnancy ultrasounds. Anatomic evaluations can detect abnormalities in the heart, kidneys, or face. Early diagnosis helps coordinate care before and after birth, giving you time to connect with specialists and make informed decisions for your baby’s care.

Dr. Jacobs, Genetic Counselor Katie Douglass, Sonographer Andrea, and the nurse were all phenomenal to work with. Our diagnosis day was the toughest day of my life, but these women were so kind, compassionate, thorough, and made the day as smooth as it could have been.
