Recently, Almara was featured in the Minnesota Star Tribune. The article, titled “New women-led clinic network in Twin Cities hopes to improve disparities in women’s health care” shared a glimpse into who we are and what we’re hoping to accomplish.
When we launched Almara this summer, our main goal was simple: to create a place where women feel truly listened to. With seven practices and over 65 specialists now working together, we’re dedicated to providing the kind of care that respects and supports women at every stage of their lives.
Being featured in the Minnesota Star Tribune is such a beautiful reminder of how far we’ve come, but also of how much further we still want to go. We’re just grateful for the chance to keep working toward better care for all women.
The Heart of Almara’s Mission
At Almara, we truly believe that every woman deserves to feel heard, respected, and cared for in her healthcare journey. For so many women, healthcare can feel like a struggle, whether it’s being brushed off when something feels wrong or waiting endlessly for relief. Too many women have had to fight for the care they need, and we get it.
As per the National Institute of Mental Health, women are nearly twice as likely as their men counterparts to be affected with anxiety disorders, particularly generalized anxiety. This can often mean that serious health concerns get misdiagnosed or brushed aside as “just anxiety,” making it harder for doctors to understand what’s really going on.
Sadly, so many women have felt this frustration. In a recent post by the Minnesota Star Tribune, over 80 people shared their stories in just a few hours, stories of being dismissed, overlooked, or misdiagnosed. From heart attacks wrongly labeled as anxiety to abdominal pain brushed off as normal, these are experiences that shouldn’t happen.
That’s why the doctors of Almara have created a space where people are listened to and respected. “We want people to find a better place to get care, a place where the doctor will listen. Everyone deserves a doctor who’s truly looking out for them, guiding them along the way,” Dr. Hasseler shared. When you come to Almara, you’re never just another patient. You’re someone whose health and voice really matter.
Dedicated to Every Woman’s Journey
What truly sets Almara apart is the way we come together. Many of our specialists have worked side by side for years, sharing their knowledge to ensure you always receive the best possible care.
Today, we’re proud to provide comprehensive care across 10 locations, with a team of over 65 specialists who are all here for you. We’re always focused on making sure you feel supported and cared for.
Because Almara is owned and operated by physicians, Dr. Hasseler shared, “We have the opportunity to decide how many patients we see each day and how much time we can give to each one.”
Dr. Cho explained that bringing the practices together allows us to share resources and create services that truly meet our patients’ needs. For example, we make sure to ask all women over 25 about their breast cancer risk, and around age 40, we gently start conversations about menopause, offering resources like books and podcasts to support them.
“We’re the ones in the exam room,” Dr. Cho said. “We’re the ones in the delivery room, in the operating room.”
This model also brings benefits to our clinicians. Both Dr. Hasseler and Dr. Cho shared how it helps ease burnout by fostering an environment where knowledge is shared and support is always available, creating a healthier and more balanced space for everyone.
Almara continues to grow with 10 locations, and Dr. Cho is excited to expand further, bringing our care to more communities outside the metro area.
“We’ve had the privilege of caring for so many families,” Dr. Hasseler said. “It’s incredibly rewarding to care for multiple generations. It’s truly an honor for us to be able to do this work.”
Conclusion
At Almara, we truly believe every woman deserves to feel heard, supported, and cared for. From how we listen to our patients to how we work together, our goal is to create a healthcare experience where women feel safe, valued, and empowered.
We’re so grateful for the opportunity to serve the women of the Twin Cities and beyond. As we continue to grow, we look forward to reaching more women and offering the care and attention they truly deserve. If you want to check out the full article in the Minnesota Star Tribune, you can read it here.
