Evidence-Based Planning
The Breast Health Program at Almara provides expert guidance and support for patients at every stage of breast health—from education and risk assessment to breast cancer diagnosis and care planning. Breast Health Nurses review imaging, explain breast density, assist with genetic testing, and coordinate referrals. After a cancer diagnosis, they offer immediate support and remain a consistent resource for ongoing breast and OB-GYN care.
We educate patients on all aspects of breast health, including how to recognize important signs and symptoms. Our team reviews mammogram results, explains breast density and its impact on screening, and provides personalized guidance to help patients navigate their breast health journey with confidence. Patients are provided with direct contact information for our Breast Health Nurse Navigator, ensuring they have ongoing access to support for any questions or concerns related to their breast health.
After scheduling an appointment, our Breast Health Nurse Navigator will contact you for a complimentary 10–20 minute phone consultation. During this call, we use a specialized risk assessment tool to calculate your lifetime risk of developing breast cancer. This includes gathering information about your family history of breast cancer, hormonal factors, and mammography imaging. The nurse will discuss your results and collaborate with you to create a breast health care plan that aligns with your needs and comfort level. This may involve following standard screening guidelines, consulting with a breast specialist, or developing a proactive plan for future care.
Whether you have received breast health education or are navigating a breast cancer diagnosis, every interaction with our Breast Health Nurse Navigator includes direct contact information for future support. We are committed to
being a reliable resource, always available to assist with any breast health concerns that may arise moving forward.
Our Breast Health Nurse Navigator provides education and support around genetic testing, helping patients understand its purpose and guiding them through the process. When appropriate, referrals are made to genetic counselors—licensed healthcare professionals who collect detailed family medical histories, coordinate genetic testing and interpretation, and offer personalized information and emotional support to patients and their families.
After a breast cancer diagnosis, our Breast Health Nurse Navigator will reach out for immediate support and guidance. During this initial contact, you’ll receive direct access to your nurse navigator, who will work closely with you to develop a personalized care plan and provide appropriate OB-GYN referral recommendations. Throughout your cancer journey, we remain a consistent resource—ready to assist with any OB-GYN-related concerns and help you stay connected with your care team.
Let’s talk about breast density! Understanding your breast density is an important part of your breast health. Our Breast Health Nurse Navigator is here to help you learn what breast density means, how it may affect your
screening needs, and when enhanced imaging might be appropriate. Connect with us to receive personalized education and guidance tailored to your individual risk and breast health journey.
